WHO WE ARE

Ken Matthiesen, Jackson Gulick, Michael Flanigan, and Ryan Boey comprise the world famous Nashville songwriting team known as The Shoeless Joes. The Shoeless Joes name came about because of the unusual but casual, laid back style of writing used primarily in the NSAI writing rooms. We believe that NSAI stands for "No Shoes Allowed In". The shoes come off, the couch becomes a sleeper for our bearded member from north of the border, and the lights go off to create an eerie séance like environment.

Once the songwriting gods are conjured up using secret superstitious rituals from chapter one of the official but invisible “Shoeless Joes” secret songwriting hand book, the songwriting begins.

Ninety-nine percent of what actually occurs in our twice a week, three hour writing sessions is unprintable here (in order to maintain a less than R rating) and classified as TOP SECRET by our government, then buried in underground vaults near Roswell, New Mexico. But somehow,, almost magically, verses appear like long lost spirits of Native Americans trampled by stampeding buffalo, choruses are captured using Ghost Buster Proton Pack-like collection gizmos, hooks are written quicker than The Gong Show buzzer and bridges are built as sturdy as any U.S. Navy Seabee project.

Having fun is always our priority, but not too far behind is producing high quality lyrics we hope will become cuts here in Music City.

NSAI graciously puts up with Joes, and somehow, someday, we’ll make enough money to pay someone to get the stains out of the room.

ENJOY!

Ryan Boey is the newest member of The Shoeless Joes Family.  He is a 19 year old singer/songwriter that attends Belmont University.  Ryan was born in Florida but was raised in the great state of Ohio.

Believe it or not, Ryan was the shy kid growing up and kept his writing a secret until High School.  He was part of a touring percussion group called "The Trash Talkers" since they pounded on trash cans instead of drums, where he learned about stage presence.  Ryan made multiple trips to Nashville before making the move, getting multiple songs taken by publishers.

Today Ryan is focused on his new single, "Hogtied Heart", and a new album to come in 2016.
